About Us

We’re Nipun and Emma — a Sri Lankan–German couple who turned their passion for surfing and community into The Drop In, our surf school, surfhouse, and surfshop in Madiha, Sri Lanka.

Nipun’s family is one of the oldest in the village, giving us deep local roots and true connection to the Madiha surf community. When it comes to insider tips, local surf knowledge, or anything you’re curious about, you can be sure he’s the right person to ask.

About The Drop In

We created The Drop In as a warm, welcoming space for travelers and surfers — just a short walk from one of the best surf spots in Sri Lanka: Madiha Surfpoint. Madiha is known for its friendly vibe and beautiful waves, making it an ideal place for surf lessons, surf progression, and relaxed coastal living.

Learning to surf with Nipun means professional surf coaching, clear technique, fun, and real progress — whether you’re a beginner or improving your skills. With years of experience and a strong technical background, he offers reliable and knowledgeable surf lessons!

Our Team

Our amazing team plays a huge role in what makes The Drop In special. From our dedicated surf instructors to our friendly housekeeping staff and the crew in our surf shop, everyone works together to create the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere our guests love. Their passion, local knowledge, and genuine care make sure you always feel supported — whether you’re heading out for a surf lesson, checking into your room, or browsing the shop. We’re incredibly grateful for each of them, and we know our guests feel the same. And of course, our two dogs, Momo and Chuty, are always around to add a few extra smiles to your day.
